Fishing the Haris Chain of Lakes from Tavares

The Harris Chain of Lakes contains some of the largest lakes in Florida. The popularity of the lakes and the prize-winning Crappie (specks) and Bass caught in them have attracted national attention. Tavares is now host to the Bass Pro Shop's Crappie Masters and the Bassmaster Elite competition.

Tavares sits on Lake Dora (4,475 acres) which is part of the Harris Chain of Lakes .

Other lakes that connect to Lake Dora are Lake Eustis (7,806 acres), Lake Harris (15,087 acres), Little Lake Harris (3,359 acres), Lake Beauclair (1,140 acres), Lake Griffin (9,327 acres), Lake Yale (4,013 acres) and Lake Carlton (376 acres).
